“Creating Change Through Increased Self-Awareness”
- Dana

About

  • I use a unique framework derived from NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) that provides logical next steps to creating change. This framework is taught within the first 3 sessions as we work together to unpack and explore how your feelings and behavoiurs are getting in the way of you living your best life!

I am more about providing tools and tips to manage your life vs. spending the session just listening. I want your counselling experience to be engaging, rich with conversation and provide you with concrete tools that you can practice at home. Inspiring you to make change is my one of my main goals!

I also want you to feel comfortable and safe to talk about things that perhaps you have been keeping to yourself- because I want you to know that I can handle the big ugly stuff and not much may surprise me.

I blend compassion, knowledge, and humour with a genuine interest in your growth and development. I offer gentle challenges and provide homework unique to your needs via text message after each session.

I like to dig in and get to the root causes of your situation or problem. I may be a bit blunt at times for the sole purpose of inspiring you to make changes and learn to challenge yourself. Finding core issues that ‘hijack’ you and working on how to process those moments is a key tool that I use in my practice.

    I’ll remember your stories.

My clients have said that they find me easy to talk to, knowledgeable and inspire them to be their best self! I also want to celebrate you and all your baby steps along the way. I have a bunch of creative analogies to help you see things in a different way (and also use in in your daily life).

At the end of the day, it’s just me wanting to help you be the best you!

  • I spent 14 years working in child welfare, gaining experience working with families, children and the family court system. I have extensive experience working with substance problems/ addictions while providing counselling for a local methadone clinic to those in need. I am an Approved Mental Health Provider for Indigenous people with Status. I also have a Certificate in Trauma Informed Clinical Care. I believe in building a circle of care around you to ensure we are meeting your needs. I started my private counselling practice in 2018.

Areas of Specialty

  • Overcoming Addictions

Understanding that clients who are dealing with addictions are often experiencing complex problems with many layers. I enjoy meeting my clients where they are at, delving into those layers and tackling problems together.

  • Goal Orientated

The clients who arrive on my doorstep tend to be looking for real life solutions. My focus is to support clients as they navigate their individual goals within counselling with an action plan that both feels realistic and sets them up for success.

  • Strengths Focused

I specialize in working with clients who have endured serious addiction, abuse, loss, stress, overwhelm, conflict and/or trauma within their own lives. I show up fully to move through difficult emotions with clients as a means of creating a better future together.
